Throughout the years since the founding of Dorset ASSET, we have been fortunate to acquire funding from a number of sources. This funding has enabled us to award cash prizes to students for projects covering a wide range of technologies, such as resistive materials, textiles, architecture, science, and mathematics, as well as projects in mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering.
We have received financial support from the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and also The Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Funding has also been received from foundations such as the Ernest Cook Trust, the Alice Cooper Dean Foundation, and the Community Foundation.
Also, without donations received from individual ASSET Trustees and the Royal Naval Factory Association, it would not have been possible to award prizes to the total value of £1,850 this year. We were also able to lend assistance to several Dorset schools, enabling them to take pupils on science museum and nature park visits.
The trust is intent on continuing to support schools for several years to come, but can only achieve this if funds are available. To this end, we have to carry out an annual trawl of prospective funding agencies for much needed financial support.
